i’m redecorating in an old house and believe i’ve come across lead paint,has anyone got any advice about it?
like how to safely remove it or whether it is ok to paint over?its in my babies room so i’d like to know
Removing lead paint with a blowlamp, whereby you are likely to breath in lead laden fumes is not ideal. Eating the woodwork and therefore the lead paint, is not ideal. I don’t think removing the lead paint with anything like “nitromors” paint stripper is ideal either. If you want the room lead free, replace skirtings/architrave etc with new. Or, if you’re confident your baby won’t eat the woodwork, just paint over it with modern lead free paints, but, to be on the safe side, wear a dust mask and hoover up well if you sandpaper it first.
